Travelling towards Pwllheli along the A499, just before the village of Llanaelhaearn is a right turn onto the B4417 take this turning and at the post office in the village of Llithfaen turn right and continue uphill until a car park is reached on the left at the top of the hill.
Straight ahead you can walk or drive down to the oldest village on the Lleyn Peninsula. This is the village of Nant Gwrtheyrn where a Welsh Language Centre has been established. Also it is interesting to note that this was almost the place selected for the docks that were eventually built in Liverpool. Within the village is a nice cafe that sells CDs, Books and wonderful meals.
Back at the car park there is a well worn track leading to the top of the mountain from where it is almost possible to see into Caernarfon. If you veer to the left of the track and follow the paths around the mountain you will find a further footpath that leads up between the two mountains. By following the footpath over a style and up to the mountain on the right you will begin to climb a very steep and rocky pathway which narrows sharply and restricts the access to one person at a time into the hill fort of Tre'r Ceiri. From here superb views of the Lleyn Peninsula and the mountains and coast of Cardigan Bay can be seen.
